Bring Back Eric Mangini

Why? Let’s start with special teams. We know Mangini’s special teams would have one at least 3 of the games the Browns lost because of messed up field goals and returns for touchdowns.
Next is offense. What local commentators called a Neanderthal offensive designed by Brian Dabo was actually an offense that took maximum advantage of the (limited) talent the team had. Also, and more importantly, last year Scott Lauvao was good. This year he is awful. Joe Thomas won’t make the pro bowl this year. Why? Because the blocking scheme put in place by Shurmer isn’t working. The schemes put in place by Mangini worked and the QB’s were protected. Colt McCoy was much more productive and much more confident.
More on offense? They really screwed up this year on how to best use Peyton Hillis. Under Mangini, he was great, under the current administration, not so good. Don’t tell me about injuries. The way Mangini managed things, injuries were limited.
Dick Jauron has done a great job with the defense, but this is because of new players. If Rob Ryan had the same players, would the Browns have a better defense? Hard to tell.
So, Mangini beats Shurmer on special teams and offense, and it’s a push on defense. Bring back Mangini. Don’t be surprised if he is next coach of the Indianapolis Colts.
